Truth is, I love it! The tweediness of the tweeds, the fuzziness of the kidsilk haze, the colors.
I had to wait a couple of days after I finished the vest front before I could face weaving in the ends, of which there were about sixty (!) for the back and ten for the front because I knit in most of the ends as I went. The stitches evened out a lot after I wet blocked it. (The Yorkshire Tweed DK in Revel bled a bit in the Eucalan wash.) However, the sides are still a little lumpy bumpy because the yarn weights are so different.
I wonder what other color combos would work for Electra. If my to- knit list isn't so long I might consider knitting another, especially since I won't be wearing this one. Yep. Electra is close fitting. I knew that, but irrationally went ahead and knit the usual size 34. Remember Hamish, which I knit for Yu, my six year old? Well...
What was I thinking? hehe. I suspect Electra is going to look cuter on my twelve year old niece than on me.
Specs:
Pattern source: Rowan 38, size 34
Yarn: 2 balls of Yorkshire Tweed DK in Revel (almost all used up, with my ends being 6-8 inches long), 1 ball each of Felted Tweed in Melody and Midnight, and Kidsilk Haze in Dewberry
No modifications to the pattern were made but if I ever knit this again, it'll be in the round to reduce the number of ends.
Joy! What a gorgeous sweater. You did such a fabulous job. I'm so sad it won't fit you.

Beautiful job, Joy! Even knitting in the round, I still have about a million ends to weave in!

Beautiful, Joy and bravo on the weaving in!

Lovely colours on the vest, I'm sure the niece will be delighted.

Your vest is really pretty and the colors are well coordinated. You've knitted this one in a short time, maybe you should try it again! Now that you have a sample, it's easier to get the right size.

It's so beautiful, can I be your niece? If I block it out a little more and starve for one month maybe I can fit?

It's lovely. Very unfortunate about not fitting you. Your niece is one lucky girl! :)

Those colors are just gorgeous. If it were me, I would almost seriously think about cutting the front and making it a vest, to be worn unbuttoned so that the chest measurement was irrelevant!

Gorgerous ! Beautiful colour ! It looks much better than the one on Rowan magazine cover !
What is your next project ?

Bee-yoo-tee-full!!! I think it looks amazing. I'm sorry it doesn't fit but I think you're going to inspire many people to knit this vest!

this is lovely! I love the colours, and the textures. Are you sure it won't fit you? Maybe some extreme blocking might help?

Lovely colours and knitting. What a shame if it doesn't fit you! Hope your neice will appreciate what she's getting if she ends up the recipient.
If you knit another in the round - I'd be interested in knowing what modifications you have to make etc. as I have never adapted a pattern to do it in the round.

WOW!! Another beautiful project! How do you do it so fast??????? With a little stretching, I'm sure you could make it fit. I'll add that to my list of projects to do (someday!)....

I'm sorry you can't wear the vest, it is so pretty. The colours are really special and I'm sure with all the different textures of yarns it is even more special.
