All socks
I wanted to show you my Jitterbug socks after the first wash:
The colors have considerably faded, compared to the yarn. It's the 'Fire' colorway, and each of my socks weighed 48 grams, but there was over ten grams leftover from a '100 gram' skein! Other than the bleeding colors, the yarn is holding up pretty well for an all wool sock. It's been cold these past weeks, and I've been putting my handknit socks through the paces. The wool/nylon socks don't show as much wear as the all wool ones, whose sole stitches are all flattened after a day's wear. I must have a heavy step, and I think I need to knit myself some more socks so there'll be more pairs in rotation, and they don't wear out as fast. :-)
Instead of working on some of my wips, I started this sock for Y, using some bargain bin Jaeger baby merino 4 ply in indigo and a ball of white dyed with 4 packs of limeade Koolaid. The pattern is based on the mismatched socks in Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road, but I haven't decided on the stripes for the second sock; it'll depend on how much blue yarn I have after this one is done.

Oooh! More socks! They look great! Somewhere in my plans is to use up all left over yarn for striped socks too...

i love those blue and green ones! i'm still learning the art of sock-knitting, so i think it'll be awhile before i switch colors like that! i wouldn't even know how to begin doing that, as i've never done it on any garment, much less something as small as a sock! ah, well. thank goddess for self-striping yarn!

oooh, i'm concerned about the jitterbug socks. i have two skeins, because i love the colors, ... but if they might fade ... what's to love? maybe it's because they're red? hmmmm .....

The colors did fade. They still look very pretty, just more muted. Your son's socks are looking very fun and fibrant.

The lime works so well with that navy blue. And thanks for the info about how the sock yarn and wool yarn wears in comparison - I always thought that there's something about the nylon in sock yarn. And hee hee, I like how the jitterbug yarn weighs up., reminds me of some of the incredible questions in primary school math.

Now I know, I should look for yarn with nylon content when I start to knit socks!
It's actually not so bad that the socks wear out, you'll have opportunity to knit new ones. ;)

I love the colorway for both the socks! Everyone seems to be so into socks lately. Happy New Year!

I've been wearing my Koigu Embossed Leaves Socks these few days too and they have loosened and sagged quite a bit but still very comfortable.

Oh, that's not good, the fading. I'm glad you reported on that. That yarn is rather expensive given the yardage.

The socks are still lovely. Shame about the fading after all your hard work.

Great socks! And all those colorful house slippers really brought a smile to my face!
