The Shetland Triangle
A thoroughly enjoyable project from the dyeing to the knitting, mama's shawl is done! The pattern was fairly easy to memorize and the angora was just lovely and soft, with minimal shedding. I slowed down the knitting for the last couple of repeats just to savour the yarn. :)
Pattern source: Shetland Triangle from Wrap Style
Yarn: About 420 meters of light pink sportweight Wulff Angora (70% angora/ 30% wool), dyed with grape/black cherry Koolaid
Modifications: I had to knit this with 5mm instead of the recommended 4mm needles to get close to gauge, plus I knit an extra repeat in the main section, getting final measurements of 56" wide and 24" deep.
Okay, I lied. It's not done. I didn't even know it was not done until I took this picture and noticed there was one skein that took up more dye than the others. (See the darker band before the edging?) Actually, I don't think my mom would notice, but I would. So I'm thinking...more dye! Hopefully any felting that could happen happened in the last round of dyeing. A darker purple should work, right?
In the meantime, I'll be working on some ginormous Fuzzyfeets for my dad.

Very pretty! I love that color!

The shawl is gorgeous, and I'm very curious to see what it will look like after you've dyed it once more.

lovely shawls.. looks really delicate. No one would notices, so don't bother re-dying it.

Amazing... the shawl is gorgeous and the yarn is yummy!

So pretty! And I really think that the color difference is not noticeable enough to warrant the risk involved with re-dyeing. At least that is my opinion.

The shawl is so pretty. I like the pointy edges. Hope the re-dying turns out fine.

This shawl is a beauty and I think the variation in shades adds to the beauty of its Koolaid-dyed goodness.

Great job on this beautiful shawl! I actually like the uneven tones,it makes the yarn even more unique.

ooo it's still very lovely, it is as if u made that deliberate! and u r right, dyeing it urself does make this project more special.

your shawl is so pretty. I wouldn't worry about the 'evenness' of the Koolaid color. That what makes it seems 'handmade'

Beautiful shawl! I didn't even notice the color diff until you mentioned it.

It's still a beauty! I'm sure your mom would love it!
Anyway, I only notice the difference after you mentioned it, but since it's only the edging, it 'could' look as if you did it on purpose ;)

I like the uneven tones, too. It's also harder to dye a garment than it is to dye yarn (many more opportunities for uneven dye take up).
You did a beautiful job. I think there's no reason to redye.

Your shawl is beautiful! I'm super-impressed with your dyeing. I've just started a shetland triangle of my own - I hope it ends up being as nice as yours.
