Skirting the issue
I knit 26 rows of ribbing before I realized I followed the instructions for the Electra cardigan, which has more cast on stitches than the vest, and no contrast edge. BTW, I bought the same color (Revel) of Yorkshire Tweed DK as stated in the vest pattern but in natural light it's more of a purplish burgundy, rather than the brownish burgundy you see on the cover. (My photo is not very accurate either- too purple.) Having to rip out the ribbing was not a disaster by any stretch, but maybe it was a sign to slow down with the multiple knitting projects, and do something else altogether. So...
I've been tempted by those pretty Japanese pattern books for a while. They're not as detailed in their instructions as patterns from the US but they are great eye candy, and for about $12, you get about twenty patterns to one designer pattern from the US! This skirt is made from pattern #9 (arguably the easiest pattern with just one major pattern piece) in Simple Chic. The tana lawn from Liberty's, which I had picked up a few years ago before I started knitting, is a dream (not sink your hand in luscious yarn dreamy, but still very, very nice). It's super fine and light, perfect for HK summers. This skirt is so 'ladylike', I would pose in my garden drinking tea, if I had a garden. But since I don't, the patio plants will do! :-D

That skirt is fabulous! It looks great on you.

So what's going on? Everybody is sewing now! But your skirt is beautiful! Instead of you drinking tea, it seems your plants are drinking. LOL!

Such a cute skirt! Knitting breaks are sometimes good for the creative juices.

The yarn colour looks completely different! I may have to rip something on my end too... Hey the skirt is cool! Now you are making me want to get a Japanese sewing book too. Did you order Skirt a la Carte last time? Do you think it'll be too late to add to our earlier order?

The skirt looks chic, barefoot and all :) I'm sure it goes well with your lovely cabled jaeger tank that you knit earlier this year.

I made same kind of mistake many times before especially when I rush to start a new project. I think the real colour is better than the photo. You know, I love purple ...
The skirt is very beuatiful ! Among my friends, you are the only one who can made clothes ^^

and very beautiful it looks too! Sometimes it's nice to be crafty with something completely different especially if it means you get to wear the result.
